Queen’s Square International School
Queen’s Square is a UK heritage brand International School, heading a global group of schools which reflect the ethos and values of British independent school education.
We believe that the educational needs of young people are best met within a secure, and happy environment, where children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
With this in mind, Queen’s Square International School offers traditionally based education that seeks to foster the highest standards of personal and academic achievement.

Individual & Unique
The school offers a unique education that helps children to develop a passion for exploration and creativity in their academic learning.
This is reflected in a keenly competitive spirit within a House system where children are rewarded equally for effort and for achievement. This in turn instills a combination of good manners, kindness and an active concern for the needs of others.
We aim to create rounded individuals who are ultimately able to forge successful careers and lives in a rapidly changing world. In this way, traditional teaching method are blended with modern, up to date learning resources.

The Early Years Curriculum
In the Foundation Stage of the curriculum (2-5 years), the pupils are given a broad and exciting introduction to many areas of learning.
Mathematics and English are the heart of our curriculum. The ability to read is at the cornerstone of a child’s education. From this, flows all other aspects of learning: writing, grammar, spelling problem solving and general knowledge, which in turn connects all other areas of the curriculum, such as science, languages, humanities, the arts and sport.
Computer literacy is vital to the development of a modern 21st century education along with an understanding and appreciation of modern languages. Computer awareness therefore starts early with ICT forming a key part of teaching methods which aim to mix the best of the old and new preparing your child for the next stage in their academic life.

The School Curriculum
English and Mathematics form part of every day’s timetable. Pupils learn the cornerstones of literacy, spelling and grammar, as well handling numbers in an easy and confident way. There are short weekly tests in both spelling and mental arithmetic and children can earn House Points for effort and achievement, both academic and personal.
It is important that every pupil continues to receive individual attention. This not only helps them to discover and develop their personal strengths but also to uncover any areas of weakness. Once those strengths and weaknesses are recognized, then an appropriate curriculum plan can be tailored.
In addition to English and Mathematics, the curriculum includes Science, ICT, History Geography, RE, Modern Languages, Music, Art and Sport. Continuous assessment, both formal and informal, takes place throughout the age range including the introduction to the concept of formal examinations.

Teaching & Learning
Teaching and learning strategies enable children to explore their world and surroundings. They are given them the tools and skills to develop their confidence and a sense of achievement. A balance of coordinated activities and independent choices ensures each child blossoms and matures at their own pace.
Every child is unique with their own personality and because class sizes are small, we are able to recognize and nurture every child’s uniqueness, helping them achieve their maximum potential.
We believe that in order to succeed in life children need to be good team players both in the classroom and in terms of participation in sports. We therefore encourage this objective at all levels.

Our History
During the early 19th century, a number of legacies and bequests were made for the provision of school masters to establish places of learning under the supervision of Sir John Napier, the Lord of the Manor of Luton, Bedfordshire.
In 1835 a fee-paying school for 290 children was opened in Church Street, Luton, as a result of funds provided by the 2nd Marquess of Bute, who owned the Luton Hoo estate at that time. By 1856 the school’s premises were considered too small, and the following year it relocated to a new site in Queen Square.
In 2019, Queen’s Square School was re-purposed as an international school, aiming to establish a global brand, following the same approach and formula as has been successfully established here in the UK.
